A curious example of triangulated-equivalentmodel categories which are not Quillen equivalent

چکیده
The paper gives a new proof that the model categories of stable modules for the rings Z=p and Z=pŒ=./ are not Quillen equivalent. The proof uses homotopy endomorphism ring spectra. Our considerations lead to an example of two differential graded algebras which are derived equivalent but whose associated model categories of modules are not Quillen equivalent. As a bonus, we also obtain derived equivalent dgas with non-isomorphic K–theories.

A Curious Example of Two Model Categories and Some Associated Differential Graded Algebras
The paper gives a new proof that the model categories of stable modules for the rings Z/p2 and Z/p[ ]/( 2) are not Quillen equivalent. The proof uses homotopy endomorphism ring spectra. Our considerations lead to an example of two differential graded algebras which are derived equivalent but whose associated model categories of modules are not Quillen equivalent. As a bonus, we also obtain deri...
متن کاملTriangulated categories without models
We exhibit examples of triangulated categories which are neither the stable category of a Frobenius category nor a full triangulated subcategory of the homotopy category of a stable model category. Even more drastically, our examples do not admit any non-trivial exact functors to or from these algebraic respectively topological triangulated categories. Introduction. Triangulated categories are ...
متن کاملOrthogonal Spectra and S-modules
There are several symmetric monoidal categories of “spectra” that are model categories with homotopy categories equivalent to the stable homotopy category. The most highly developed, and the first to be made rigorous, is the category M = MS of S-modules of [1]. Its objects are quite complicated, but the complication encodes computationally important information. A second such category is the ca...
متن کاملGlobal model structures for - modules
We extend Schwede’s work on the unstable global homotopy theory of orthogonal spaces and L-spaces to the category of ∗-modules (i.e., unstable S-modules). We prove a theorem which transports model structures and their properties from L-spaces to ∗-modules and show that the resulting global model structure for ∗-modules is monoidally Quillen equivalent to that of orthogonal spaces. As a conseque...
متن کاملA Homotopy Theory for Stacks
We give a homotopy theoretic characterization of stacks on a site C as the homotopy sheaves of groupoids on C. We use this characterization to construct a model category in which stacks are the fibrant objects. We compare different definitions of stacks and show that they lead to Quillen equivalent model categories. In addition, we show that these model structures are Quillen equivalent to the ...
